| The Economy & National Debt |
|
National debt and out of control spending robs future generations. Recent administrations have ignored the ever-growing national debt, which leads us to an unsustainable path to insolvency, as our debt will be greater than GDP. The federal debt will represent 62% of the nation's economy by the end of this year, the highest percentage since just after World War II, according to a long-term budget outlook released by the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office. Furthermore, the fiscal year deficit will reach an amount only surpassed by 2009’s deficit. Economists predict the 2011 budget will have deficit of nearly 1.3 trillion dollars. Further projections place the ten year deficit over 8 trillion dollars.
The growing debt crisis will only be fueled by the current administration’s new healthcare system reform laws. Furthermore, as baby boomers retire, the already over-burdened entitlement programs will be strained beyond a level we have ever seen.
This spending is nothing more than selfish, generational theft, and we will not stand to see our children bearing the burden of our inability to manage a budget. Responsible spending, entitlement reform, and reducing pork barrel spending are required to fix this mess.
As Washington States 9th district representative, I will fight to ensure a national balanced budget is created. We must cut spending, reduce our budget estimates to realistic amounts, and make sure we're doing what every American family does, we cannot spend more than more than we make.
Taxing our way out of debt is not a solution for the government nor the individual. The government must promote economic development of free enterprise. The 9th District voters want to reduce our national deficit through economic growth; not through a massive increase in taxes.
