In 2008, Democrats swept many legislature and county council seats across the state... except in Pierce County, Washington. You made sure Pierce County was the only county west of the Mississippi to not only defend every Republican seat in the State Legislature and County Council, but also gain seats!

I believe, as a supporter of this campaign, you deserve to know the truth about where we stand. Most campaigns will try to spin results to make everything look better for them. I will try to lay it out as simple and honestly as possible.

At the conclusion the Philadelphia Convention in 1787 someone asked Benjamin Franklin what type of government they were to have. He replied, "A Republic, if you can keep it." Independence Day has always meant more than freedom from Britain, more than rebellion. Indeed, many rebels have overthrown a government only to implement a tyranny of their own. But our United States of America was born a fraternal twin: it brought with it the notion that power was held in the individual person; that God blessed mankind with the capacity for self-governance. When the Declaration of Independence said "We hold these truths to be self-evident," it ushered in a new concept in government that is inextricably tied to our future as a nation.

This video released by Dick Muri’s campaign, with the incumbent, Adam Smith, and Republican challenger, Dick Muri, agreeing to a clean contest in a face-to-face conversation.

The exchange was recorded outside of a town hall in Steilacoom where over 100 Dick Muri supporters waved signs in support of electing Dick Muri for Congress. During the conversation, Muri and Smith shook hands while Muri asserted his goals for the congressional race.
